Meet  Gilbert Gaitor, a young alligator who loves adventure stories.  He really, really, really wants something exciting to happen in his life.  One day he thinks to himself, shutting his eyes tight and asking with all his might,  “If only I could explore  and find and have an exciting  adventure”.  The next day he receives a present in the post. Gilbert thinks, “Great, this could be it… the something exciting”.  OH, but  when he opens the package, it’s a pair of very unexciting, very ordinary gloves…….....just yellow gloves.  “Oh well”, Gilbert sighs and soon forgets them,     ……….…...until one cold day his Mum tells Gilbert to put the gloves on,  they‘re going shopping.   Gilbert sadly says,   “Oh well, that I suppose is a little exciting!”.      He thinks of an amazing adventure he’d rather be on, ....not shopping!  As he puts his gloves on and whilst dreaming of wonderful things, his gloves start to glow.  Gilbert finds himself amazingly transported, gloves first,  into the world of his imagination.               Not so very ordinary gloves after all! Gilbert explores this world of very bright, unusual plants and creatures.  When he sees   each exciting thing, he finds himself saying,  “How glorious!”,   which is repeated throughout the book.  When he has had enough excitement and is ready to return,   his gloves stop glowing  and ‘whoooossshhh’,  he finds himself back  to where he had   put them on. Everything is as he left it. His mum asks him If he is ready to go          Everything is now glorious! Gilbert Gaitor has had a “Glorious adventure”.  It is a book to help children appreciate the wonderful things around  us in this world. You don’t have to put on Glorious Gloves to see the living masterpieces that surround us.  Lovely flowers, plants and trees, insects, Animals and birds etc.                                     “ Get gloriously exploring ! ”  For  a sample of the story text, click here.
